"To
those who know that sex and spirit are one." - Margo Anand
Please
note:
- The
following describes a program which was held during the 2005-2006
season. The Tantra Puja program is presently inactive.
However, if you would be interested in participating in such a program
in the future, please let us know.
There may be private groups forming for couples (M-F pairs) in the near
future.

Many
centuries ago, there existed communities where sex was a
spiritual practice and spirituality included sexuality as a matter of
course. Today, these teachings are known as "Tantra". Some may think of
Tantra as about sexual positions; others may have heard it is for
couples. It is all these things and much more.
Because
of the interest expressed after our introductory Tantra programs,
BASSN has created a series of advanced Tantra Puja events. Upcoming
events will be at a location in Arlington, MA. The
venue can comfortably accomodate 30 participants, and that will be the
maximum group size for each event.
Advance
registration with payment is required for all events.
Registration
fee will be
$25 for each event and $50 for the full day event. (Please let us know
if
you want to attend but
cannot afford the fee).
Regular
events
will be 3+ hours and will include a Puja as the centerpiece. At
each event, we will also include one or more of these other elements:
- Meditations and exercises as individuals, in pairs, in
small groups, and in the whole group.
- Learning about specific Tantric practices including sexual
practices and techniques.
- Participant sharing in pairs, small groups, and the whole
group.
- Learning about aspects of Tantra from videos and other
resources.
We will
use music and other elements to create a space for spiritual and sexual
exploration and experience. These events are sponsored and supported by
the core group of BASSN. Dan Murphy and Penny Goldmuntz will be leading
most events, and we
plan to invite known Tantra teachers to be a guest leader when their
schedules bring them into the Boston area.
Participants
are always at choice with regard to their level of participation in
each exercise or ritual. The Tantra tradition teaches us to be
conscious of our choices, and it encourages open, honest, and clear
communication. We ask each participant to be fully responsible for the
quality of their own experience, and we will at all times be mindful of
the physical and emotion safety of the group. Everyone is asked to
complete an application and agreement before
attending their first event so as to set appropriate expectations.
The June
11 Puja will be the last for this season. It is open to those who
have participated in any of our previous pujas and to new members with
the interest and appropriate experience in sex-spirit workshops and
retreats.

TANTRA FAQ
1. Are the
events clothing-optional/nude?
Yes.
Participants are encouraged to bring scarves, pareos, jewelry, and the
like to adorn and celebrate the body and to change out of street
clothes before the
event starts. The events are clothing-optional from beginning to
end. Participants will be invited to disrobe in some
exercises.
2. What
are some of the Tantric practices to be included?
- Puja.
- Yab yam (lotus) variations,
- Breath.
- Communication, consciousness, and trust.
- Tantric postures of Love.
- Sacred spot (G-spot) stimulation.
- Male genital massage and pleasuring.
- Expanding orgasm.
3. What
is a "Puja"? A Puja is a ritual involving 4-8
couples(pairs). Participants choose a partner and form a double
circle with other couples. One circle rotates so as to bring each
person in turn to each person in the other circle and finally
back to the original partner. Each step provides the opportunity
for an sexual-spiritual experience as suggested by the leaders or
created by the partners.
4. Do I
have to register in advance?
Yes. These
events are by-invitation only. A commitment is needed from each
participant in order to maintain gender balance and the best experience
for all. Advance payment is required to confirm registration.
Registration can be confirmed only for individuals for whom BASSN has
received and approved an application and
agreement.
5. Are
these events only for heterosexuals?
The
Tantra tradition is indeed focused on the male-female couple. To
provide the best experience of the Puja and other rituals, our
meetings will be gender balanced and will be structured for male-female
pairs when we are in paired format.
However,
the practices, and especially the spiritual foundation, are equally
valuable for same-gender pairs. We will consider future
events for those who prefer same-gender partners if
there is sufficient interest. If you would like to attend such an
event, please let us know by contacting Dan.
We also wish
to be inclusive of alternative sexual and gender identities. For
gender-balanced events, we ask that you enroll with a primary
identification with one gender energy.
7. I am
not sure if this is right for me. How can I find out more?
Please feel
free to email Dan. I will be
happy to respond to questions and to set a time for a phone
conversation if desired. Email Linda
for registration information.

events which are gender-balanced.
